Breathe the way pilates counts it.

Pick a breath, press start, and follow the orb. Keep your shoulders soft and let your ribs do the work.

Ready8 rounds

Breathe in through your nose and let your ribs widen to the sides. Breathe out through your mouth and feel them knit together.

Learn the breath before the moves

Every class in Her Pilates starts with the Pilates breath, and the first move that asks for a count is The Hundred. Practice both here, then let your teacher count for you in the app.

Your questions, answered

How do you breathe in pilates?
Breathe in through your nose and send the air into the sides and back of your ribs, so they widen like an umbrella. Breathe out through your mouth and let your ribs knit back together as your belly draws in.
How do you count The Hundred?
Pump your arms small and quick by your sides. Breathe in for five pumps and out for five pumps. Ten rounds make one hundred pumps.
Why does pilates use a long breath out?
The breath out is when your deep belly muscles draw in, so teachers time the hardest part of a move to it. A longer exhale also slows you down at the end of a class.

Let me count for you.

In Her Pilates I count every breath out loud, move by move, while a mini you shows the shape.
